Politics and its affect on the olympics :: essays research papers

Legislative issues is the craftsmanship or study of government or administering, particularly the overseeing of a political substance, for example, a country, and the organization and control of its inner and outside undertakings. The Olympic Games is an occasion held at regular intervals, which remembers an assortment of game exercises for which various nations contend with each other. â€Å"Sport is as often as possible an instrument of tact. By sending designations of competitors to another country, states can build up a first reason for political relations or can all the more adequately keep up such relations† (Espy 3). One may imagine that legislative issues and the Olympics have nothing to do with one another, however in reality they do share a ton for all intents and purpose. How did governmental issues influence the Olympic Games in 1936, 1968 and 1972?      In 1934, the demise of President Hindenburg of Germany expelled the final obstruction for Adolf Hitler to expect power. Before long, he announced himself President and Fuehrer, which implies â€Å"supreme leader†. That was only the start of what might very nearly 12 years of Jewish oppression in Germany, for the most part as a result of Hitler’s scorn towards the Jews. It is hard to question that Hitler really dreaded and despised Jews. His entire presence was driven by an over the top abhorring of them (Hart-Davis 14). In 1935, the U.S. chosen to go to the ‘36 Berlin games, despite the fact that the United States knew how Hitler was aggrieving the Jews. By July 1933, at any rate 27,000 individuals had been set in what Hitler got a kick out of the chance to call â€Å"detention camps† (Hart-Davis 16). In mid 1932 at an IOC meeting in Barcelona, the board of trustees chose to give Germany the privilege to the 1936 Olympic Games, which permitted Germany to reestablish their athletic notoriety that they lost in view of the flare-up of World War I. Everywhere throughout the world, there was an objection to blacklist or if nothing else change the area of the ‘36 Olympics. The IOC’s first reaction was that they had conceded Germany the Olympic site before the Nazis’ came to control. All over Germany before the Olympic Games were signs that read Juden Unerwunscht, or â€Å"Jews not wanted.† â€Å"The racial segregation so evident and intentional was beyond what some remote games associations could stomach. Aside from being hostile to ordinary individuals, the Nazi disposition was likewise oppositely restricted to the standard of free rivalry on which the Olympics should based† (Hart Davis 62). More than anyplace else, activity against what was occurring in Germany mounted all the more rapidly in the United States, particularly in New York, where there were very nearly 2 million Jews living (Hart Davis 62).

Death Penalty, Why Its Bad essays

Capital punishment, Why It's Bad articles The Death Penalty. A warmed discussion? A problem that is begging to be addressed? Just in America. The United States of America is the main industrialized popularity based country on the planet that despite everything utilizes capital punishment. There are a few essential reasons why capital punishment ought to be absolved. Reason one: The Death Penalty is unreasonably applied all through the nation. In Furman v. Georgia, capital punishment was prohibited in light of the fact that it was being condemned without measures or request. Despite the fact that that Supreme Court case was upset four years after the fact, the difficult despite everything exists. A man who is indicted for homicide in Texas (a state with more than 250 executions and 450 more on Death Row a year ago) is bound to be condemned to death than a man who is sentenced for homicide in Connecticut (a state where capital punishment has been lawful for more than 7 years and there has not been one execution.) It is likewise unreasonably dispersed among minorities and the ruined. Since capital punishment was reestablished in 1976, 158 dark litigants have been executed for the homicide of a white casualty, while just 11 white respondents have been executed for the homicide of a dark casualty. What's more, as O.J. Simpsons legal counselor once st ated: Money doesnt purchase equity, absence of cash purchases shamefulness. Individuals who can pay for their own lawyers, just as the individuals who can bear the cost of bail, are more probable not to be condemned to death. Reason Two: The Death Penalty doesn't hinder wrongdoing. A few people, for example, the President of the United States, accept that capital punishment dissuades wrongdoing. They are incorrect; states that don't have capital punishment have lower murder rates than the individuals who do. Besides, the U.S. has higher homicide rates than those of Canada and Europe, which don't have capital punishment. A study of the previous and present leaders of the nation's top scholastic criminological social orders found that 84% of these specialists dismissed the idea t ... <!

Blog Archive Tips from Inside the HBS Interview Experience

Blog Archive Tips from Inside the HBS Interview Experience Devi Vallabhaneni, an HBS graduate and former HBS MBA interviewer, is now mbaMission’s HBS Interviewer in Residence, conducting HBS Intensive Interview Simulations. Harvard Business School Congratsâ€"you received an invitation to interview with Harvard Business School (HBS)! Suddenly, your heart rate picks up because entry into HBS’s hallowed grounds seems that much more real. What do you need to know?  Drawing on my six years as an interviewer at HBS, I have a few helpful tips. Feeling Nervous Feeling your nerves kick in is totally normal, but would you believe that every time I interviewed an HBS prospect, I was just as nervous? You might find that hard to imagine, but it is the truth! I felt like I owed each and every interviewee the courtesy of bringing my best to them, really getting to know them, and working just as hard as they had to arrive at the interview. So, first things first, know that the person on the other side of your HBS interview is eager and sincere in wanting to know the real you. Know Your Story Cold Your story should be within you, right? Well, maybe you wrote about your love of Chinese cookery in the personal section of your resume, but since then, you have not given another thought to the last cooking class you tookâ€"which, by the way, was a good story two years ago! Although I was never specifically trying to find weak spots in interviewees’ stories, I would sometimes start by asking about interests and hobbies they had listed that sounded interesting, so I just might have asked you about your Chinese cooking. Before your interview, refresh your familiarity with your entire application, even the parts you think are trivial. Master the What How How you accomplished something is just as important, if not more than, what you actually accomplished. The how shows the real level of effort you had to expend to reach your end result. To me, the how also lets you share a deeper version of your story with your interviewer. I once interviewed an applicant who had worked on a seemingly common financial transaction. Because of the regulatory and political complexity of the transaction, she had to create more than 30 different potential scenarios to anticipate and quantify the client’s next steps. In this case, the how gave me better insight into the applicant’s depth of analysis, creativity, and experience. Without that information, this project, on its face, may not have stood out to me as something meaningful. Be sure to detail the how of your achievements for your HBS interviewer so that he or she can better understand the rigor and impact of your experience. Give Full Answers I once asked an applicant to tell me about a growth experience he had had while studying abroad. He responded by reporting that he had learned to make his bed. I have to admit that, on the surface, this is not much of an answer. However, after a few follow-up questions, I realized that he was humbly trying to explain that he had been coddled up to that point and that he had ultimately had an awakening about independence. I wish he had proactively connected these ideas, because we ultimately spent much more time than necessary on this topic, which precluded us from fully exploring other parts of his background. Giving full answers means demonstrating the broader context of your responses and anticipating the interviewer’s potential perceptions so that you use your 30 minutes as wisely and efficiently as possible. mbaMission’s HBS Interviewer in Residence, Devi Vallabhaneni Strive for Practiced, Not Scripted You worked really hard on your HBS application, which is what led to this interview opportunity. But your application probably took weeks or months to complete and required multiple revisions and edits, whereas your interview is a one-shot 30 minutes. This is why practicing your answers verbally is a great idea, but practice does not mean memorization or rehearsal. I once interviewed a woman I later ran into on campus when she was a first-year student. While we were catching up, she told me how nervous she had been for our interview and how she had practiced by writing out bullet points and verbalizing them in front of a mirror. I still remember her interview to this day. She was natural, conversational, and in the moment. The way she had practiced enabled her to convey what was salient while still being fully present and engaged. In contrast, another candidate I interviewed responded to my every question with “I have three reasons” or “I have three examples,” and in most cas es, his replies did not match my questions! He had memorized pre-made answers and simply recited them when given the chance to speak. Make sure to prepare useful points and stories and practice verbalizing them before your interview, but once you are in the meeting, pay attention to the questions being asked and call on those points and stories as appropriate.   Forget About the Introvert Versus Extrovert Factor Prospective interviewees regularly ask me, “Am I at a disadvantage if I’m an introvert?” and assume the interview is better suited toâ€"and more beneficial forâ€"extroverts. The truth is that I have seen both be extremely successful. Shy, quiet, low-key people can be just as compelling as those who are outgoing, animated, or gregarious. I remember an interview I had with a soft-spoken individual who had intriguing manufacturing experience in a foreign country. He really blossomed when he shared his worries about that country’s upcoming elections and how the outcome might affect his company and export potential. Your HBS interviewer is much more interested in your experiences, background, values, and interests than in your personality typeâ€"so just be thoroughly you. Anticipate the Interviewer’s Homework I once interviewed an HBS applicant who was working at a start-up in a foreign country. I had never heard of it, so I read up on it, including its funding structure, mission, and founding team. I even found a news report that explained that one of the funding rounds had not gone smoothly. During the interview, we got on the topic of raising money, and the candidate was shocked when I asked about one of the investors. When he asked how I knew about that investor, I explained that I had researched his start-upâ€"not to create “gotcha” questions but to better understand his work environment. Expect your HBS interviewer to go beyond just reading through the information you included in your application. The philosophy has always been (1) to meet candidates where they are and (2) that the more we know about an interviewee beforehand, the deeper and more helpful the interview will be. Be Earlier than Early I interviewed a candidate once who was 15 minutes late. His interview was essentially over before he even (finally!) walked in the door.  Just as you would plan to arrive early for an important work meeting to make sure you are physically and mentally ready, plan to arrive for your HBS interview earlier than necessary. If you know you have a problem with timeliness, plan to arrive even earlier still. This way you can have a few peaceful moments to gather your thoughts and prepare. If you end up being so early you have extra time on your hands, you can use the opportunity to meet other applicants, walk around campus, or just sit back and enjoy the moment. Whatever you do, just never be late! Enjoy the Moment I used to begin my HBS interviews by briefly introducing myself and then enthusiastically asking, “Ready to have some fun?” The candidates would look at me like I was crazy, clearly incapable of thinking the interview could possibly be fun, but by the end of our conversation, they understood what I had meant. Your interview is an opportunity to talk about yourself, your background, your goals, and your experiencesâ€"and to let your personality and style shine through. Try to loosen up and enjoy it! The 30 minutes go by really fast. By the time the interview starts, you cannot do anything more to prepare, so try to push through any nervousness you may be feeling and make the most of the experience! The HBS interview is an extremely human process for both the interviewer and interviewee. Embrace the opportunity to engage with the school on this next level and show your readiness for its unique MBA experience. The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock Essay

The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock The Woodstock festival descended on Bethel, New York promising three days of peace and music. Event organizers anticipated 15,000 people would attend but were overwhelmed by the 300,000 people that flooded this rural area of New York state from August 15 -17, 1969. While these facts are well known and indisputable, the festival itself has proven to be a controversial endeavor. What began as a small business venture was soon brimming with the controversy of an entire decade. It becomes clear when examining the strikingly different accounts of the festival that reactions varied depending on the fundamental values and personal circumstances specific to each observer and to the†¦show more content†¦This approach gives the book a distinct atmosphere as it reads like one giant conversation, allowing the reader to appreciate Woodstock as the undertaking of many.[3] An examination of Joel Makower’s other work reveals his qualifications to describe Woodstock’s stat us as a business venture. He has authored or co-authored at least twenty books, many of which involve business and investing. His other works include studies of the media and an American history sourcebook.[4] While Makowers description of the production of Woodstock outlines an outwardly gradual process of preparation and decisions, newspapers of the era provide the initial shock and public reaction of the festival. Outrage felt by local citizens of Bethel is displayed in an article written by Alfonso A. Narvaez and printed in The New York Times on August 20, 1969. The article conveys the frustration felt by local residents as an influx of thousands caused massive traffic jams, widespread property damage, and a shortage of basic necessities and sanitary facilities. Many local businesses were ill prepared to provide needed goods and services to such an enormous group of people. The Bethel post office was closed while dairy farmers were forced to dump fresh milk because neither mail trucks nor milk trucks

The Entrepreneur Essay Example For Students

The Entrepreneur Essay In the United States, approximately one in eight adults are self-employed. In their minds exists a one common dream. This is The Entrepreneur Essayial dream of self-employment. It is the freedom to start, grow, and cash in a new business. Most of the extravagant millionaires of today build up their wealth in this way. An entrepreneur is someone who has the ability to build and develop his own business. In todays fast paced world of business, many people chose to work for themselves. A career as an entrepreneur is a risky, yet personally rewarding endeavor. Entrepreneurs start from ground zero with probably only a dollar in their pocket. Entrepreneurship is the ability to create and build something from practically nothing (Timmons 1). Entrepreneurs should be admired more than anything for their hard work and determination. We will write a custom essay on The Entrepreneur specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It is initiating, doing, achieving, and building an enterprise or organization, rather than just watching, analyzing or describing one. It is the knack for sensing an opportunity where others see chaos, contradiction and confusion. It is the ability to build a founding team to complement your own skills and talents. It is the know-how to find, marshal and control resources (often owned by others) and to make sure you dont run out of money when you need it most. (Timmons 1). To be an entrepreneur, it takes the willingness to prosper with calculated risks; both personal and financial-and then do everything possible to get the odds in your favor. Driven by an intense commitment and determined perseverance, entrepreneurs work very hard at what they do. They excel and want to win. Entrepreneurs are amazing people with a high respect of character. They use their mistakes as something to learn from rather than a failure. No matter the outcome, they believe in themselves and have an extreme confidence not only in themselves, but also in what they do. Entrepreneurs who start and build new businesses are more celebrated than studied. They embody, in the popular imagination and in the eyes of some scholars, the virtues of boldness, ingenuity, leadership, persistence and determination. Policymakers see them as a crucial source of employment and productivity growth. Yet our systematic knowledge of how entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses is limited. The activity does not occupy a prominent place in the study of business and economics. Clich and anecdote- or laments about the ineffable nature of entrepreneurship- dominate the discourse about new and fledgling businesses (Bhide 3). Todays economy depends of the production Many entrepreneurs have very strong characteristics and similar ambitions. To have a successful business, one must possess entrepreneur qualities. Studious and hard working, they strive through the ups and downs of start-up companies. They are self starters and have a superior belief in themselves. An entrepreneur has to be patient and wait. Companies take time and nourishment. It takes years for a small company to even build up enough to go public. They are very consistent and usually considered work alcoholics. They own inventive and creative traits. Entrepreneurs are willing to stay with a business during rough times. They plan ahead and have good self-discipline in managing their time. Also, entrepreneurs must have social skill in talking with other people. Usually, they are risk-takers. They are self-starters. They are confident, and they enjoy a challenge. They are not afraid of hard work or long hours. They are patient. They realize that most new businesses take many years before they earn a profit (Hurwitz 1). It takes many qualities to be an entrepreneur, but they are outstanding at what they do. There are many different reasons people want to start up their own business. There are probably as many reasons as there are entrepreneurs today. One of the reasons is to solve a problem. In life there are always hurdles that block us from finishing our race. Some people just give up and others keep trying to figure out a way to get over the hurdle. Entrepreneurs sit and think of ways to overcome their difficulties. .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .postImageUrl , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:hover , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:visited , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:active { border:0!important; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:active , .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20 .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue94b51dfbc1aee2ed6bf8a22194b5c20:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: arranged marriage: for america? Human Resource Management 323 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Human Resource Management 323 - Essay Example In Canada, worker’s compensation system can be regarded as the first social program which was incorporated so as to favor employers and worker’s group in order to avoid any form of lawsuits. The system was majorly introduced in the state after an inquiry conducted by William Meredith who was Ontario’s Chief Justice. He even outlined a system on basis of which workers would be compensated for injuries occurring at the workplace but for this privilege workers need to give up their basic right linked with suing their respective employers. This was majorly done so that strong bond can be established between workers and employers and even to enable the required compensation to employees. It can even be stated that state began regulating compensation system of employees since the rate of workplace injuries and accidents were growing at a phenomenal speed. This form of system is a provincial responsibility and hence it varies from one region to another. There are even c ertain places where the principle introduced by Ontario was even termed as Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and this program possessed preventive role ensuring that there is safety in the workplace. These laws were established in 20th century and the major reason behind this was to cope up with social and economic costs associated with industrial accidents. During 19th century, industrial accidents were a major problem and it was handled mainly by the courts. The legal doctrine which was introduced proved to be highly biased in context of employees. This system though resulted into wins of employees who were severely injured but in maximum situation they proved to be unsatisfactory. The reason behind this was ultimately compensation received by employees and their family was relatively less. It can even be stated that regulation imposed by the state in the 20th century was to majorly eliminate any form of injustice done by employers in

Theories And Models Of Learning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Theories And Models Of Learning - Essay Example This is the theory of learning that focuses on things that can be seen and does not put into account any mental activities. It is only concerned with learned behavior whether it is through experience or through watching. Proponents of this theory believe that people can learn more from external stimuli than if they are actively involved in the process. Learning is acquiring new behavior and behaviorists describe this as conditioning. There are two types of conditioning that explain the reason as to why both human beings and animals are taught or learn to do certain things. The first type is classical conditioning where there is a reinforcement of a natural reflex or another type of behavior that happens as a result of exposure to a stimulus. Operant conditioning, on the other hand, is the reinforcement of behavior by rewarding it. Every time a particular behavior is practiced, the participant is given a reward. Operant conditioning is the most important type of behaviorist learning a nd is seen as more powerful than classical conditioning. Just as the way positive behavior is reinforced, so is negative behavior. Negative behavior is discouraged by immediate punishment. For instance, the monkeys that were kept in a cage and every time they tried to reach out for the banana, they were electrocuted. With time, they all restrained from reaching out for the banana no matter how enticing it was. Humanists focus mostly on human beings and emphasize on issues of personal choice, creativity, and spontaneity of an individual.

Effect of Potential Difference on Copper Coating

Effect of Potential Difference on Copper Coating Design Research Question: What affect does the potential difference (V) across the circuit has on the copper coating on an iron metal? Hypothesis: My hypothesis is based on the Ohm’s Law which states V = IR, where V is the potential difference across the circuit and ‘I’ is the current present in the circuit and ‘R’ is the resistance. (When ‘R’ is constant) The above equation states that as the current increases, the electron flow will also increase. Thus increasing the potential difference across the circuit which in turn increases the copper coating on iron metal. Variables: Independent Variable: Potential difference Dependent Variable: Change in mass Control Variable: Concentration of the electrolyte Resistance of the circuit Temperature Distance between the electrodes Materials Required: Voltmeter (0.2 V) Ammeter (0.1 mA) Copper Plate Sand paper Iron nail Rheostat Connecting Wires Electrolyte (1M CuSO4 solution) Beaker Alligator Clips Weighing Scale (0.01 g) Diagram of the experiment: Procedure: Set up the experiment as shown in the diagram above. Take a sand paper and remove the rust from iron nail. Now place the iron nail on a weighing scale to get its weight. The iron nail should be now attached as the anode The potential difference should be kept as 1V Pour the electrolyte into a beaker and dip the iron nail into it for about 10mins. After 10mins, remove the iron nail and dry it. Repeat the above procedure for V = 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3. Steps (1-8) should be repeated twice. Process the obtained data and record the observations. How to control the Control Variables: To control the concentration of electrolyte, make sure that the same electrolyte is used throughout the experiment. Resistance should be kept constant for the Hypothesis to be true, and for this a rheostat is used in the experiment by which resistance can be controlled. The experiment will be performed in a closed lab environment to ensure that the conditions of the equipment are not affected by changing atmospheric conditions. The distance between the electrodes should be kept constant because if the electrodes are not kept in a constant position, the rate of transfer of electrons will increase hence the mass deposited will also increase. Data Control and Processing Raw Data Table:- The Raw Data Table consists of the data obtained from two trials and is shown below in a tabular form Table 1 Table 2 Qualitative Observation: Reddish-Brown coating on the iron nail when it is dipped in the electrolyte. When the current is passed, due to the flow of electrons from anode to cathode, the copper coating thickens as if it is trying to displace the iron. The iron nail becomes blunt due to the heavy deposition of copper. After taking down the readings and noting the associated qualitative data, the raw data table is now processed and the data is represented graphically so that a better analysis could be done. Processed Data Table: The processed Data table consists of two tables showing the change in mass after the data is obtained. A graphical representation of the data is also done. Processed Table 1: Change in Mass was calculated by subtracting the initial mass from the final mass, For V = 1.0  ± 0.1, Change in mass (ΔM) = Final Mass – Initial Mass = 1.596g – 1.560g = 0.036g Similarly, Change in Mass was calculated for different Potential difference shown in the table. Processed Table 2: Similarly for this table, For V = 3.0  ± 0.1 Change in mass (ΔM) = Final Mass – Initial Mass = 1.889 – 1.797 = 0.092g Graphical Representation: Trial 1 The above graph shows the relationship between Change in mass and Potential Difference. The obtained graph resembles a linear graph and the error bars are plotted. A trend line is also made to pass through all obtained values. From the analysis of the graph of Trial 1, it can be observed that as the Potential difference increases the change in mass also increases which means that the amount of copper deposited increases with increasing potential difference. Similarly, graph for trial 2 is shown below, Graph 2 The graph obtained for Trial 2 also resembles a linear graph but there are some differences between the graph obtained for trial 1 and trial 2. As Potential difference across the circuit increases, the Change in mass also increases which means that the copper coating thickens with increasing Potential difference. Further Calculations are done to find the exact difference between both the trials, Calculations: For trial 1, The equation for the graph is y = 0.0296x + 0.005, Finding the slope of the above graph, m = 0.0296 Slope = 0.0296 gV-1 The slop obtained from differentiating the equation states that when 1V is increased, 0.0296 of Copper deposition takes place. This cycle continues for 1V increase. Calculating the moles of Copper, Moles = Moles = Moles = In Copper Sulphate, a +2 charge is present on Copper hence the required electrons will be as follows, Calculating the transfer of charge, Charge transferred = = 89.60 C Increase in the current = = 0.149 A For Trial 2, The equation of this graph is y = 0.03x + 0.0058 By differentiating the above equation, m = 0.03 gV-1 Calculating the moles of Copper, No. of moles = Mass à · Molar Mass Required amount of moles = = 9.44Ãâ€"10-4 mol at 1 p.d Calculating the transfer of Charge, Charge transfer = = 90.95 C Increase in the Current = 90.95 C à · 600s = 0.151 A Conclusion and Evaluation Conclusion For Trial 1, The Charge transfer obtained is 89.60 C For Trial 2, The Charge transfer is 90.95 C The difference between both the charges = 90.95 – 89.60 = 1.35 C Uncertainty of the experiment cannot be found out because the slope of both the graphs are different. From the graph, it is seen that, Evaluation The major reason for this deviation from the trend line plotted in the graph indicates that the resistance was not controlled properly. The graph is plotted on the basis of the Ohm’s Law stating, when the Resistance ‘R’ is constant but in this experiment, both trial one and trial 2 have different value for Charge transfer thus it can be concluded that the experiment was not accurate because of the presence of fluctuating Resistance. Errors that may have occurred The major reason for the experiment going wrong was due to an improper rheostat. The rheostat didn’t have a proper grip between the coil and movable scale. The scale may not be properly attached to the coil hence leading to a deviation between the obtained values. While removing rust from the iron nail using a sand paper, it may have had happened that some amount of rust remained on the surface of the iron nail and was not removed due to ignorance. The experiment was performed for approximately 4 hours. The experiment on the whole was not performed on a single day and hence some discrepancies in the solution may have had happened. The instruments used maybe were not calibrated properly. Number of trials taken in the experiment is only two which is very less as it does not give a big picture of the errors occurred while performing the experiment. How to improve the experiment The experiment can be improved to a greater extent by using a rheostat which has a good grip between the coil and the moving scale. This can be done by checking the instruments before performing the experiment. A fresh iron nail should be taken for the experiment. If it is not taken, then due to carelessness, some rust may remain on the iron nail and at one point it will become so thick that removing it with a sand paper won’t be possible. The experiment should be conducted for a shorter period of time and should be performed on one day itself because if the solution is kept open, it may happen that the solution will degrade or will react with air. Instruments with proper least count should be taken to avoid any systematic error. A minimum of five trials should be taken to reach an accurate conclusion.

diversity management: case study Essay -- essays research papers

Nightmare on Wall Street   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  This case is all about facts and incidents about the harsh truths that lie behind the discrimination and harassment against women in the workplace. Males have predominately rules the workplace on Wall Street and had the perception of having no women take their glory. For years women were filling suits with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) about the way men were treating them. Women were getting mistreated, demoted, harassed or even fired in some incidents for reasons beyond their control.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Robert Thomann is a good example of the mistreatment that was being laid on the female brokers. Thomann was out on 8 weeks maternity leave and when she came back, her branch manager which was known as the tyrant demoted her. Cueno, her branch manager, said that any sexual harassment charges would be deliberated in the Boom, Boom Room which was located in the basement of the firms building. It was a room decorated like a fraternity with a toilet seat hanging on the ceiling. After I read that, I could not believe it. The way the men were acting and treating women is unbelievable. Something needs to change at Thomann and other women keep filling suits against these male dominated managers that were not scared of any repercussions of the way they were acting. They did not think that they were doing anything wrong because their mindsets were all about the males in that industry were better su...

Essay: A Visit to the Zoo

A Visit to the Zoo Zoo is a place where all sorts of tame and wild animals are kept. There are birds and beasts which tell us about the flora and fauna of our country as well as foreign countries. It is in this respect a giver of knowledge and information. Delhi zoo is housed in the Purana Kila on the Mathura Road. It has a fine and rare collection of birds and animals from all parts of the world. The zoo is spread over several acres of land. The birds and animals are kept, as far as possible, in their natural surroundings. There is a moat encircling the enclosures of wild animals so that they might not escape. One day I went to the zoo in the company of some of my friends. We bought tickets at the gate, and entered the zoo. First we came upon the enclosure where water fowls were swimming in water. The ducks and drakes were swimming and picking up things thrown to them. We enjoyed their playful antics for some time and moved on. Next we came to the enclosure of the wild animals. There were lions, tigers, and leopards belonging to different countries. The Gir lion of India seemed to be most ferocious. The enclosures smelt of meat, provided to them everyday. In another enclosure were the monkeys. They too, were of several varieties. The ape with a black face seemed to be the most mischievous. He was all the time grinning at the onlookers. The visitors threw parched grams to the monkeys and they seemed to relish it. At a small distance we saw a peacock. It was dancing. I ran to that side. The peacock seemed td be unmindful of the presence of the crowd. Closeby was an enclosure for the deer. It covered a vast area and the deer were roaming about freely- Near to the enclosure we saw a buffalo-like animal. It was the rhino munching some maize plants. It looked dreadful with its sharp horn on the nose. The sight of the rhino at once reminded me of the adventure of Colonel White as given in our text-book of English. On our way back we saw some elephants. They were being u sed for a joy-ride on payment. Lastly, we saw the covered enclosures where birds were flying about. They were of different colours and shapes. Now it was getting dark. The bell rang and we came out. The visit to the zoo added a good deal to our knowledge of birds and beasts.
